Hey, it's Tia' the practice manager Providence. As we dive into 2024, I wanted to kick off some blog posts, just sharing real talk about our fresh focus: healthcare is self-care.
So, Happy New Year, y'all!
Let's jump into the first post.
Last quarter I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey to set up Providence for 2024 with a goal of more patients and clearer messaging on why customers should choose us to partner in their health journey.
I recall pitching during JaxBridges, and a judge dropped some interesting wisdom – he said ditch calling people "patients" in your messaging. Me to him:l but why?
Cause patient makes you think sickness and I'm not sick. I do not need your services.
If we are honest many people skip the doctor and go to Dr. Google or the emergency room because they are scared, busy, had bad experiences, or just conditioned to treating their health as an after thought.
But here's the deal: you shouldn't only see a doctor when you are sick! And I am asking you to start the year off right with baby steps get an Annual Exam.
An annual wellness exam in my opinion are more important than that resolution to join the gym, save money, or take more vacations.
How do they work? Doctors order bloodwork, physically check your body through various diagnostic tests and have a chat about how you're really feeling. What may seem like a simple conversation is actually clues to help your physician determine if additional tests and/or medication is needed.
This baby step to prioritizing your health will set you up for your best year yet.
Now, I get it. You feel "alright". But yeah probably not.😬 Most of us aren't walking around with a clean bill of health.
Diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol just to name a few– we're all dealing with something.
So, my take? See your doctor more often but at a minimum get your annual wellness exam. Don't wait for sickness to hit.
At Providence Primary Care we do provide annual exams even if you are not a member of our practice. If you want someone you can trust, won't make you wait, and is compassionate about your health schedule your appointment with Dr TK today.
This post is just the start, a little intro to get you thinking. Throw your health on that vision board and make it a priority for the new year.
